These Terms and Conditions govern all services provided by Origins Birth & Family (“Origins”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), including but not limited to antenatal education, birth preparation classes, practical parenting classes, CPR and choking courses, workshops, consultations, events, and any related services.

By making a booking, attending a class, making payment, or participating in any service offered by Origins Birth & Family, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions.

1. BOOKINGS AND REGISTRATION

1.1 Registration

Registration for all courses, classes, workshops, and events is on a first-come, first- served basis.

A booking is only confirmed once:

  • The registration process has been completed; and

  • The required deposit or full payment has been received.

Origins Birth & Family reserves the right to decline or cancel registrations where capacity limits have been reached or where payment requirements have not been met.

1.2 Partner Attendance

All antenatal and birth preparation courses are priced per pregnant participant and their chosen birth partner.

Partner attendance is included in the course fee. No discounts, refunds, or reductions in fees will be provided if a participant attends without a partner.

1.3 Medical Aid Statements

Where applicable, medical aid statements will be issued upon completion of the course. The issuing of a statement does not guarantee reimbursement by any medical aid scheme, and participants remain responsible for confirming benefits directly with their medical aid provider.

2. PAYMENT TERMS

2.1 Deposit

A non-refundable deposit of R500 is required to secure all bookings unless otherwise stated.

The deposit is mandatory and assists Origins Birth & Family in planning, staffing, venue arrangements, and course preparation.

2.2 Balance of Payment

The remaining balance must be paid before the commencement of the course unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Origins Birth & Family reserves the right to refuse attendance where outstanding fees remain unpaid.

2.3 Pricing

All prices are quoted in South African Rand (ZAR) and are subject to change from time to time.

2.4 Price Changes

Should pricing be amended:

  • Participants will receive at least seven (7) days’ notice before the change becomes effective.

  • Notice will be communicated via email, website updates, social media platforms, or other reasonable communication channels.

Confirmed bookings that have been paid in full will not be affected by future price increases.

3. CANCELLATION, REFUND AND CREDIT POLICY

This policy is implemented in accordance with the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“CPA”).

3.1 Participant Cancellations

More than 10 days before course commencement:

  • The participant may cancel the booking.
  • Any amount paid, excluding the non-refundable R500 deposit, will be refunded.
  • Alternatively, a credit may be issued at Origins Birth & Family’s discretion.

Within 10 days of course commencement:

  • No refunds will be provided.
  • Any payments made will be forfeited.
  • Origins Birth & Family may, at its sole discretion, offer a transfer to another course date where circumstances justify such accommodation.

3.2 Missed Classes

Refunds, credits, transfers, make-up sessions, or partial reimbursements will not be provided for:

  • Missed classes;
  • Late arrivals;
  • Early departures; or
  • Failure to attend for any reason

Requests arising from medical emergencies, hospital admissions, pregnancy complications, bereavement, or any other exceptional circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Supporting documentation may be requested.

Any accommodation granted shall be entirely at the discretion of Origins Birth & Family and shall not constitute a waiver of these Terms and Conditions.
